01 — What we do
PML Plating Ltd offer silver plating and refurbishment to businesses, hotels and the general public. Our plater has over 30 years' experience in the trade, and we plate using traditional methods onto nickel silver, copper, brass and stainless steel.
We provide a tailor-made service with a quick turnaround — Silver or Nickel plating, from large bulk orders to one-off pieces.

From restaurant cutlery and holloware to electrical engineering components, jewellery, thickness testing and trophies.
03 — How it works
Electroplating as it has been done in Sheffield for generations — there's very little difference between our plating shop today and the one at Portland Works a century ago.
Your piece is first polished to level off the surface. The plate can only be as good as the surface we plate onto.
The item is immersed and a current deposits pure silver evenly across the surface — the modern method, used since the 1840s.
After plating, each piece is hand-finished to bring up its shine before final inspection.
Items are quality-controlled, carefully packed and returned. Restoration can take up to four weeks.
